CC NAACP’s 16th Annual MLK Breakfast Jan. 26, 2019 9 am Martins

On Saturday, Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 9 a.m., Carroll County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Steven A. Lockard will be the guest speaker at the 16th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. breakfast at Martin’s of Westminster, sponsored by the Carroll County NAACP Branch 7014.

Tickets are still available $35 in advance $40 at the door.

The breakfast is a Carroll County winter tradition and always well attended. We look forward to seeing you at the breakfast.

Rescheduled Martin Luther King breakfast set for Saturday Jan. 28, 2017


On Saturday, Jan. 28, at 9 a.m., at Martins Caterers, in Westminster, Mike Preston of the The Baltimore Sun will be the guest speaker at the 14th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. breakfast, sponsored by the Carroll County NAACP Branch 7014.

This breakfast was previously scheduled for Jan. 14, but was postponed due to the threat of bad weather.

Veteran journalist Preston is a sports columnist for The Sun, focusing on the Ravens and lacrosse. He is a 1977 graduate of Kenwood High, and a 1981 Towson University graduate. Preston has been writing for The Sun since 1987 and has been a columnist since 2000.

Baltimore Sports writer Mike Preston will be the guest speaker Sat., Jan. 28, 2016 at the annual Carroll County NAACP Dr. Martin Luther King breakfast

On Saturday, January 28th, at 9:00 a.m., at Martin’s Caterers, in Westminster, Baltimore Sun sports writer Mike Preston will be the guest speaker at the 14th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. breakfast, sponsored by the Carroll County NAACP Branch 7014.

This breakfast was previously scheduled on Saturday, January 14, but was postponed due to the threat of bad weather.

I will have the privilege and honor of introducing my Baltimore Sun – Sun Media Group colleague, Mr. Preston that morning.

Veteran journalist Preston is a sports columnist for The Baltimore Sun, focusing on the Ravens and lacrosse. He is a 1977 graduate of Kenwood High, and a 1981 Towson University graduate. Preston has been writing for The Sun since 1987 and has been a columnist since 2000.

Also, according to information from Carroll County Public Schools spokesperson Carey Gaddis, “at the breakfast, the NAACP will honor Stephen Guthrie, Superintendent of Carroll County Public Schools, for being selected as Maryland Superintendent of the Year for 2015.

“Guthrie was nominated for this honor by the NAACP, along with the Board of Education and the school system’s leadership team. He will be recognized for his outstanding efforts in multicultural education, diversity, and community outreach, as well as his support and relationships with the NAACP and other organizations that promote equity and social justice.

“Awards to four Carroll County Public Schools students who are “Living the Dream” will also be announced. The awards are given to African American students in Carroll County who exemplify Dr. King’s core characteristics by providing service in the community, demonstrating commitment to academic excellence, and participating in activities and clubs that promote equality for all people.”
